New album, 'Songs Our Parents Sang', released soon!

10.7.2022

I'm incredibly excited to announce I am releasing my first ever studio album toward the end of July! For the last two years I have been working on an album of cover songs with the wonderful John Morton recording and producing, my father, Robin Daly on guitar and working with me on all the arrangements, Jake Andrews on bass and, my mother, Nancy Daly adding some beautiful electric recorder to one of the tracks. The album is aimed at children, but should appeal to anyone who remembers once being a child; and is something I was inspired to create when I had my own children and struggled to find lovely music that I could play to them for calm time or as bedtime lullabies.

I chose a selection of songs that are a mixture of ones my own parents sang to me when I was a child, songs that I have sung to my children over the years, and then a few extras that I just think are lovely for kids.

Putting the album together has been the most rewarding process, as it's the first time I have had the opportunity to record an album and to arrange the songs in the way that I love. Given the theme of the album it is also wonderful that both my parents are on the album with me.

John Morton gave so much of his expertise and time in the studio and I will be forever grateful to him for this opportunity.

Jake Andrews' sensitive and creative bass playing added a wonderful fullness to ten of the twelve tracks and he was able to add some beautiful highlights to the arrangements.

I have decided that all sales proceeds for this album, after costs, will be donated to the charity Yes to Life (Registered Charity No 1112812) for the first year of sales. This charity was set up in memory of my younger sister, Bryony, who died from cancer in 2004 at the age of 23 (yestolife.org.uk/our-inspiration). Yes to Life empowers people with cancer to make informed decisions about their care options. For nearly two decades, they have provided evidence-informed information to those in need, and those seeking to pursue approaches that are currently only available as private healthcare.
